Did you know, Bonny, that deep-fried butter is a Texas invention?

I'm sorry, deep fried butter sounds just revolting.

Have you had those fried potatoes where they have really thin spiral sliced potatoes and give you this huge plate of them? Sometimes served with melted cheese sauce on top, but I like them just plain.

My husband worked a State of Md. booth one year at the fair and came home with a "treat"...a deep fried Oreo. Weird.

I can always go for a funnel cake, though!

Those have been around since I was in jr high. We call them Suzy Q's here. Love them. They are way better than plain old fries. I even made them when I was a fry cook.

Have you ever had deep fried Twinkies? I've never indulged, but some folks I know, just love them.

At least I think I could stomach that better than the Krispy Creme donut cheeseburger. Now that sounds revolting and a good way to turn me against cheeseburgers!

Deep fried twinkies are good, but one serves 4 people easily. Filling doesn't begin to describe them.

That fried peanut butter jelly banana sandwich sounds interesting. I would like Jalapeno jelly on mine.

...sigh... and I didn't get up there this year to have one. The Wisconsin State Fair is closer to where I live than the Illinois State Fair. More fun, I think, too.

Last time we were up there they had on display beautiful stitched quilts, hand-made clothing, and knitted and crocheted items. Such lovely things. I have almost no skill in that area- I can sew on a button and quickly hem up a pants leg in a pinch, but that's it. So I love to see all of the different items people have made.

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!

Not directly related, but Friday when I was in New York I saw an Amish market in Hell's Kitchen. How odd is that?

I wonder if it was staffed by "real" Amish, or if they were just Amish type products in the market. Can't imagine the Amish wanting to be associated with "that word"!

"Hell's Kitchen" is just the name of a neighborhood, there's no sign and gate saying "Welcome to Hell's Kitchen!"
