Barley - a happy ending

Still LES and a heartwarming story. I'm wondering, at one point there's a picture of the kitty and he has a black nose. After that it's pink. I think I've heard or seen kitties severely neglected that loose there nose skin to reveal a deeper pinkness. Anyone had any experience? Long live Barley and his meowmie for recognizing a soul bond.
