Beautiful Himmie - she is so lucky you saved her. I love her story but I had to cringe when I read one of her habits - drinking from the toilet bow.. My friend has a cat who also did the same thing and then he got VERY sick and almost died. It cost her $1200 and they still hadn't figured out what was wrong until she mentioned where he got most of his water from. He had ecoli poisoning - I have to say my friend is a very clean person, but as the vet said, there is always some residue in the toilet bowl of "that" or of cleaners, so they strongly recommend the lid stays down when not being in use by a human. Plus, I'll never forget when I was a little girl (long ago...) that my mother kept hearing a clapping noise and finally realized that our cat Whisper had been drinking from the toilet and fell in, the lid closed on him and he was trying to get out (it was a heavy ceramic lid so he wasn't able to lift it himself and could have drown).
My cats now drink out of large glass beer mugs that they love.

Please have your pets sterilized as soon as possible to lower, and one day hopefully eliminate, unwanted and abandoned pets. It IS our responsibility. Adopting from a shelter also helps - encouraging breeders just adds to the overpopulation.
