I have three children ages 10,3 & 17 months old and he loves kids!! My childrens friends play with my dog and never had any problems. Well yesterday my friend came to visit and brought her children and they were playing with the dog for about an hour and the dog was tired and layed under the kitchen table and my friends 3 year old daughter crawled under the table an on top the dog and he snapped really quickly in doing so he must have bit her or scrapped his teeth off her head. which required 13 staples. I would have never thought this would happen. although i feel that she may have hurt him in some way by crawling on him. i'm still a little scared for my children should i be?? I also heard some wise tale that if a dog gets a taste of blood that will turn him mean. Is there any truth to that?? I could really use some advice I'm pretty freaked out.
..... Please don"t worry,my hound could play rough also ,the lacerations to your child might have came from the pets claws,my oldgirl sliced me open alot when playing and I mean sliced,my wife would get very upset with me about it,but it was"nt from being aggressive she just knew she could play rough with me,but she had these claws that were long and sharp and she would put her paw on my arm and curl her nails in as to say hey I"m here pet me and would easily slice my arm open and I bled alot and probly should of had stitches many times but I"M a farm guy,but I do understand the concern for the child,I myself got down on the floor and rough housed with my olgirl and she would stickout her paw to bat at me like a cat and she has layed my head open a few times but being my age was able to react quicker were the child may have got the full force,I"M not saying it isnt possible of a bite,a dog is a dog we really cant say never I"M just saying the can play rough and its not a aggression rough of my experience I had my olgirl 11 years and she was the best freind I ever had here on this earth, there isnt enough space on here to tell you all the great things about her,as far as the taste of blood therory a male may be deferant ,but my sissybear, blood didnt any effect on her,and she had to eat everything I did, like I said I cant tell enough but if you would like to here more I have alot of things good to tell you about this breed of pet. you can reach me at jchines32 (the at sign) gmail.com thank you for your patients
