I engaged in an act of purest optimism today:

I ordered seeds, sets, and plants for the garden.

Normally I'd have had the ground tilled by now, ready for planting, and I'd be looking at getting the onions, beets, cabbage and broccoli in the ground by now.

HOWEVER, when the garden looks like a mud bog, it's hard to plant.

Can we get at least 4-5 days of sunshine so I can kick this off?

We finally got the rain today they've been promising us all week! Of course this does not wash away any of the many gazillion maple blossom covering my driveway, yard and sidewalk in bright green, just adds to it!

The (seasonal) garden center has opened up near my work. They have catnip plants, so I'll go get one for a certain somekitty. Other than that I don't have a green thumb.

Do you ever get them sprouting in you gutters? Looks funny as heck go see little trees growing in the gutters. We really have to get new gutter guards this year!

I think that is why you are supposed to clean OUT your gutters!

I gave up, last year's garden looked like a jungle, the weeds (we get tons of vine things here) really took over. So in the Autumn I cleared it all and put in grass seed. I've reseeded once this Spring already.

So, put in a few extra items for ME!

After the tilling and planting are done, maintenance is easy. it's getting things going that takes time.

This is the first year I have ever planted a garden. Put it in early last week. It is a flower garden and I followed the instructions when planting the bulbs. I put in Lilies and Gardinia's. We will see what happens. I am hopefully optimistic. We are also reseeding the whole yard, which the landlord is very thankfull about. We moved in last August and the yard was a disaster. Many bare patches, no one had raked in a long time and so on. So we are using a garden weasel(that is what DOug said the tool is) and heavy raking the whole yard on the weekend and then reseeding it with Scotts grass seed. Hopefully it turns out really nice.

last year we planted lots of tomatoes and a few jalepeno plants. This year we have extended the garden to include squash, strawberries, several types of peppers and some watermelons. Not very experienced with any of these, so who knows what'll happen especially with all of the rain we've had the last few weeks. I want to plant some grapes, but still trying to figure out the best place to put them.

WTH? They only take small bites, what's the problem?

Yeah, but it was a Mountain Brown Funnel Web and they are a lot bigger than the Sydney Black (which is one of the most deadliest critters in the world.)
She started wearing gloves until she found out that the buggers can sink their fangs through a glove and through a fingernail under at the same time, and that if she did get bit, she's got about 20 minutes to get to a hospital.....hee hee.
