Hi - Please do the kind thing and put Cookie in a room for the time when little children are around. You will be saving Cookie the stress of being picked on by them and also you will avoid the children getting scratched or bitten, as Cookie may do after one of them pulls her tail or does something else that upsets her. It's not worth the risk and you could lose friends (the parents of the children) or even Cookie if something bad happens. Better safe than sorry - just put her in a room to avoid any trouble. As a longtime rescue and shelter volunteer, we rarely even allow adoptions to families with small children - it can often be a recipe for disaster (especially when both parents are working, on in single parent homes). People just don't usually take the time like they used to to show children how to respect and care for animals.
