Where did you find this one, Wom?
Ok, I'll give you all a little history behind this quote. J.S. Macdonald was an Australian artist, but his fame was more recognised as an art critic.
The quote I used, was a quote he used circa 1920's about a very famous Australian artist called Margaret Preston.
Now I'll give you the link.........Margaret Preston was taught art in various art colleges by famous Australian artists when she was a young girl. My great uncle, a William Lister Lister, was one of her teachers...I have some of his paintings and of course, lots and lots of his writings and stuff, including art by some of his students.....none of Prestons....her works are worth megabucks.
Some pics for you all...........

"Afternoon Clearing" William Lister lister

"The Site for the Capital of Canberra 1912" William Lister Lister
He won the Commonwealth Art Prize for this painting. It hangs adjacent to the door of the Prime Ministers Office in Canberra.

"The Coast at Thirroul" William Lister Lister.
As you can see, his forte was landscapes and seascapes.
