Huzzah for Gabby!
Love, Columbine
great news! Hope he continues to improve![]()
Well an amazing thing happened today! He did not yowl for food until about 10am today! So evidently he is not feeling quite as hungry now that he is digesting his food well. Oh and he took his medecine without fuss this morning!
One thing I noticed this morning was he has totally lost about a "quarter size" chunk of fur. There is no sign of a scratch or anything. He is just missing the fur in that spot on his lower side. The skin where the fur was looks to be totally normal. I touched it and felt it and that does not seem to bother him any. Does anyone have a clue what may have caused this.
That's wonderful news that he is eating and gaining weight. No, I have no idea about the loss of hair. Kay in NC
Thanks Kay... Think I figured it out! When I was so very anemic my skin got really dry and ichy no matter what I did to soothe it. Well part of FIV is anemia so I guess his skin is dry and itchy also. Anyhow I caught him pulling at his fur and scratching. I have some spray on stuff for cats that over groom and it is supposed to stop the itching and so forth. Harmless to the cat so I soaked him good with it then brushed him with a soft brush. He is now sleeping. You can do this every day so maybe that will help!
Furless cats are cute but I would rather Gabby keep his!![]()
Oh... that is so sweet, how well he is doing!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

What kind of spray?? What is it called?? I have an over groomer here, Boris, and I swear she's going to end up looking like a hairless cat one day soon. Not sure if it's itchy skin or anxiety, but I'd love for her to stop over grooming, and if I could try a spray or something to put on her, that would be great!
Jenn....
Well I have a BIG boy named Joseph that constantly grooms and that is who I bought this for. He is not overly fat he is just plain ole BIG. I got it at the vets and it was 21 dollars for a 16 oz spray bottle. If your cat dont like being sprayed, as mine dont, then you can pour some in a bowl, wet your hand or a sponge and put it on that way. You need to make sure it is wet down to the skin. After that I brush the cat with a very soft brush to straighten the fur back out. It wont hurt the cat if he licks the stuff. I cant use the shampoo that they talk about below as there is no way I can wash a 27 lb cat by myself!!!!
Ok here is what the bottle says:
