The excessive grooming has to stop!

Well that's not what I expected to read! Usually with excessive grooming, the cat does it to himself. Franklin just HAS to be different, I guess!

Anything you put on to deter him, she is going to smell / taste and not like, either.

Has Chelsea been to the vet recently? I'm wondering if she has a health issue? Something she exudes which he finds appealing.

How old is he now? You'd think SHE would swat him away!

Franklin is almost 4 years old and is almost twice the size of his momcat.... He has been chewing Chelsea's whiskers for at least a couple of years - it's the balding spot on her forehead that's recent thing.
Oh, he still wants to nurse once in awhile too and the sight of this big kitty nursing is pretty hysterical.
I don't think it's a health issue...I haven't seen any changes in either kitty....
And she does bat him away or at least gets up and moves away when she's had enough but evidently his grooming doesn't seem to bother her too much.
It's not an huge problem yet but I don't want things to get out of hand.....

Sounds like OCD. I guess cats can get this too - but why - and how the heck to break them of it??? Maybe Franklin is just bored. Have you tried toys or other distractions with him?

Many years ago when I wore my hair long, I had a cat who insisted on sucking on it and biting on it. The only way to stop him was to remove either myself or the cat. It took him a long while, but he finally got the message and eventually stopped.

Well Franklin is a bit neurotic in addition to being a big baby....
