Jake, I think you have the right idea. I've been turning up the heat often this winter in NC but right now it is warming up. He sure is a cute sweet looking dog. Kay in NC

That's definitely creative thinking on his part !

My two would probably enjoy having heat available in that area, but, our A/C registers are all in the ceilings. Both of mine are very cold natured, and though we don't run the A/C at a very low temp (75°-77°F), I've seen both of them go outside in the HOT HOT summer, and lay directly in the Sun to warm up. I also have an "under-bed" warming pad, which is on full time through the winter for them.
