The point of staying in the hospital tonight (they might have released him if we hadn't said to his doctor up front we wanted him to stay) is to SLEEP. He is so sleep deprived from the pain, and I'm glad to say, I believe he will actually SLEEP!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts. Your love and caring is so much appreciated - more than you'll ever know!!
I hope the nurses give him something for sleep and then stay out of his room all night long so he can REST! (when I worked on the floors I reluctantly awakened many sleeping patients on the third shift) Fingers tightly crossed for a very good night's rest

I am so happy to hear this WILL be a very Merry Christmas for him. And I'm sure for you too, just knowing he is not in pain any longer.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Coop is home for Christmas Eve and I couldn't be happier. While he is not completely pain free he is MOSTLY pain free and moving around really well. I thank you all for your love and concern, and would like to relate a story from his stay in the hospital you might appreciate.

The PT nurse came in to get Coop up and walking. He told her there was soreness and some residual pain. She said (keeping in mind my husband is a good bit over six feet and not a small man) "Have you ever been stuck on a long flight in the middle seat with no way to move? That's where your discs have been for the last couple of years. It's going to take a while to stretch out." I loved the analogy!

Off to cook my hubby's family's traditional Christmas Eve shrimp dinner for just us!

Happy Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas everyone!
