Our dogs don't have an opportunity to dig but when we had large dogs in the past, it was another story. This is what we did. We would dig a hole where the dog seem to like to dig most and place in the hole a blown up balloon with just a small amount of pepper in it. Then buried it again. When the dog would dig, the balloon would pop and the dog wasn't too happy. We had to do it a few times before he started connecting digging with that unpleasant experience and quit.
