I do hope this is the case! Prayers for the both of you.

I know now that this is a fight that Punky won't win & I've scheduled
an appt. for 1:15 today at the Vets. Punky is getting weaker by the day
and his eyes are full of pain. I am just being selfish to want to keep him
with me, but it just kills me that his life has to end this way. He was a big
strong boy and he has become a shell of his former self. I cannot let him
suffer any more with no hope of ever getting better. My poor Punky.

I'm so sorry to hear your latest news. Admitting it's time to say goodbye is the most difficult decision we have to make for our furry loved ones, but it's also the kindest decision when it comes to that point. You tried, Punky tried, but sometimes nothing can change the course of nature. I came across this poem when we had to say goodbye to our kitty, April, earlier this year. I hope it helps you cope with your sorrow, even a little bit. Punky will always have that special place in your heart.

    Cat Poem

    They will not go quietly,
the cats who've shared our lives.
In suptle ways they let us know
    their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
    we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
that one place in our hearts
belongs to them. . . and always will.

Rest in peace, Punky, and play gently at the bridge until that one fine day...

We miss you. Play gently until we meet again.

Punky is gone. He went to sleep easily & quickly and didn't fight the
procedure at all. Before he left I kissed his head & stroked his ears when
I told him about Rainbow Bridge. I told him to rest easy there & in time I
would be there too. I told him to wait for me & I would call to him when I
arrived. We would be together again.

He looked so peaceful & I hated to leave the room without him.
I spent some time with him afterwards & half expected him to wake up
again. I waited awhile until my mind was sure his spirit had left. I will
miss my little "timekeeper" kitty. Punky always reminded me when the cat
    bowls became dangerously low.

    R.I.P. Punky

I know it's been on here before-- but: Note #10-

    A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........
    1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
    2. Give me time to understand what you want of me
    3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
    4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
    5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
    6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
    7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
    8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
    9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10 On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

You did what you had to do, for Punky- and you saw him through it all... he knows it and you will be together again. God bless and may your pain be lessened by the knowledge that SO MANY here know it and have shared it- self included, too many times - as we've had to for our closest and most loyal friends.
