The Amish are an interesting folk. They are not allowed to have modern conveniences in their home like telephones but they can have one out on the pole at the end of the road.

"No lights, no phones, no motor cars, not a single luxury..." Oh wait, that was Gilligan.
Yes they can not have electricity in the house. They can have it in the barn or outside the home somewhere but not in the home. So I THINK Christmas lights outside would be within the rules. although maybe that's a bit much lol

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.

The Amish are a strange breed truly. A strange religion that bends the rules to fit so they can make money. No electric at home but at work? How is that God's law? Just another group of people who think they know what God wants as long as it make money for them.
Very odd. Is there a passage in the bible that says married men cannot shave?

We've got a big community of Plymouth Brethren here where I live. The women all wear a little scarf on their heads......we've knicknamed them "Hanky Heads"

You picking on my Amish neighbors. Around here they use gas powered machinery to make their furniture. Karosene for lamps & lanterns & burn wood to keep warm. It takes to much time to shave they are busy from sun up to sun down. Besides those beards keep their faces warm in the winter. I like them they make the best pies, fudge, cookies, & candy. Some really neat quilts too.
