Greetings and a very happy Dog of the Day to you handsome, beautiful Copper! (And here I thought you were named Copper to honor those gorgeous, sparkling, copper colored eyes of yours!)

As a lifelong doggie and kitty lover and mom, current mom to a Labbie and 2 kitties, I'm so happy to see such a special, and most deserving Labbie boy being honored here today! I cannot comprehend the cruelty of one who would dump a defenseless doggie by the side of the road, knowing that almost certainly, she or he would meet the most horrible of fates. Thankfully you had a host of guardian angels come to your rescue; from the "coppers," to the kind couple who found you, to the vet, to your family. How lucky you were Copper, to have found your way to the most wonderful and loving of forever homes, a family who would love you and respect you and cherish you all the days of your life, and what a fabulous, fun and adventure filled life it is! And no big surprise to learn that you won over your Auntie as handily as you did, Copper; Labs have been known to convert the hearts of even the most resistant (though in your dear Auntie's case, me thinks she was a dog lover all along, just waiting for that one special pup to come along and seal the deal). Along with with your Mommy and Daddy, you have one devoted friend for life in her (with Cairo soon to follow...that photo of you two kids in your "separate corners" is absolutely precious!!!).

Thanks to you dear Auntie for sharing your heart warming story, your beautiful self with us all; and thanks to you sweetheart, for taking the time out of your busy day to personally paw off a note to us! I wish for you dear Copper, a very happy day, celebrating your much deserved Dog of the Day reign with your parents, kitty sib Milo, and Labbie sibTakla; your dear Auntie, Cairo, and all of your adoring friends and fans! Copper, you are such a lucky boy. What a wonderful family you have now, after that awful beginning. It's easy to understand how your auntie fell in love with you. Yes you are a lucky fellow. To be rescued once from a dangerous road
and again when your family took you home with them. But they are lucky
too, to have such a loving, gentle & handsome boy like you to love and
cherish. I'll bet Cario thinks of you as a friend too, just doesn't know
how you show you. Congratulations on being our DOG OF THE DAY.
