Great looking dog, but I cringe everytime I read about how someone's dog is so tolerant of their kids that they can do anything to them and the dog doesn't do anything. Having been in dog rescue for over 15 years, it's usually just a matter of time until the dog snaps at the kids. Hopefully, that's all it will do and not tear off their face. Best case scenario, after the dog snaps at a kid, it's returned to the adoption group and becomes unplaceable. If it's lucky a member of the adoption group will eventually adopt it; if not it will be put down.
Ask yourselves, what are you teaching your kids about dogs – you can do anything to them and they won't retaliate. What about strange dogs? Way too may people let their kids come up to our dogs and put their faces in our dogs. Our dogs have never done anything, but other dogs? Might as well give them a loaded gun and have them play Russian roulette.
Adults should never get dogs for kids, they should get them for themselves have the dogs become a respected member of the family.![]()
