My gosh, poor Tigger! I hope the guy at least had the sense to take the poor dog to the vet!

Tiger is getting better. I walked out this morning and he was out of his kennel and playing with Honey. Rob has him on antibiotics, and seem to be working ok.
I'm not sure if Rob fits him with a chest guard on hunts, I must ask him. I do know tho that both Tiger and Honey are fitted with tracking devices, because the distance between themselves and Rob on the bike can be many miles.
As for breed, Tiger has Wolfhound in him, but certainly a mixture of breeds for that particular vocation....Honey is a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Sometimes when Rob goes away, we have to feed them in the evening, and as soon as I walk in the gate, both of them are onto me, jumping up on me because they know they are about to get fed....and they are both bloody heavy. Karen has given up on that, they've managed to floor her a couple of times already....LOL.
OMG. All I can think of is "Ol' Yeller".![]()
"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam
"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Boar hunting, from what I have heard, is very dangerous. Hogs are highly intelligent and aren't afraid to use it. But I hear they're good eatin'! I'm glad Tiger is OK, and hope he will take better precautions in the future.
I've been finally defrosted by cassiesmom!
"Not my circus, not my monkeys!"-Polish proverb
Ugh! Why so cruel? It's cruel. Plain cruel. ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS THE BOOK, "OLD YELLER" ! Glad to hear he is getting better though
Several people on another board I follow use their dogs in boar hunting. They're a great teammate to have on your side, and the pigs can be so dangerous...they're doing a service for the people around them by reducing the numbers of pigs.
There are places where wild boars are a huge problem where gunfire is not allowed. Wild boars do an estimated $800 million in damage per year.
As has been mentioned, wild pigs are SMART. Even a hunter with a gun can be caught off guard. Having a dog whose keen senses can give you better warning of the pig's approach is MUCH safer for the people involved.
