My apologies. A previous poster posted a picture of Johnny with his "new family," the Sibleys, this evening. I know how loved he has been, by so many! All of those who cared for, looked after and loved Johnny so selflessly, before his tragic encounter, are ALL his family, and will be, forever!

We got a call that Dr Kergosien needed to see a part of Jonny's family. I was on the way out the door when I recieved this call. Jonny is doing ok but he will be going thru another surgery tomorrow to remove some teeth. Dr Kergosien said these teeth have been rubbing Jonny's K9's for sometime. He is donating his time for this and asked if Jonny could be fixed in this process. I asked where the funds were and he stated the funds are only going to take care of the anistisa (I may have butchered that). His time was being donated for this. Isn't he great for doing this.
They started treating him for heartworms and the intestinal parasites today. I was told that the Internal Medicine Dr. has donated his time as well. We are currently awaiting word on his part on Jonny's release.
Trish also said a couple of the Dr. there had donated some funds towards Jonny's bills as well. Aren't they just the greatest? LOL Jonny is known as the Legend at the Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center. He is Famous thanks to everyone here. We will update all of you as soon as we get them.

Yes Kevin, all of those wonderful doctors are simply the best, not only because of their amazing skill, their expertise and dedication, but for their generosity!!! Thank you SO much to all of those terrific professionals and caregivers at the hospital! I'm hoping for a successful, uneventful procedure for Jonny tomorrow; so glad to hear as well, that he's already undergoing treatment for his parasites and heartworms! Many EXTRA thanks to Dr. Kergosian for his caring, his compassion and his generosity of spirit, his time, and his care. As a critical care nurse, and one who has worked with Drs. Without Borders, I know so well the priceless impact of such selflessness, how appreciated it is. Please say thank you to him, to everyone there, from us all! And please let us know if more donations are needed; I'm ready!

Me too! Jonny, you have a national fan club

Thank you again, Kevlin for keeping this thread updated and for the new estimate on the finances.

And tatsxxx11, I would LOVE to travel for Doctors Without Borders. They mostly want nurses with critical care, surgical, ED experience which I don't have, and people who can go with their teams for 2 to 4 weeks (or longer)- which right now I can't. But I hope to work with DWB or Remote Area Medical in Appalachia.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!
Brrrr, I've been Frosted! Thank you, Asiel and Pomtzu!

    Monday 7/26/10

Kevlin's posting is a summary of what we discussed today. Dr Kergosien wanted to see if his teeth would align properly after surgery. He did not want to pull teeth before the surgery unnecessairly. There are two upper teeth that are rubbing on his two bottom teeth and the two teeth are worn so this was not something that happened in the past 2 week period. It will likely make it easier for him to eat and close his mouth. One of the bottom teeth are jagged.
It will be a brief procedure and Kevlin decided to have him neutered for prostate health reasons while he is under anesthesia at the same time. It will all be a brief procedure.
We will know the precise food he needs tomorrow after our Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Kenny Arceneaux, another owner of our practice, sees him again and determines the course of heartworm treatment. He may be ready for discharge by this Thursday but will know for sure once Dr. Arceneaux sees him.
No calls today however we did receive three checks in the mail. Total collected is around $4100 and the cost for services as of this pm is close to this by only a few hundred less. Heartworm medication was not listed on his invoice at the time of the financial update.

Will keep everyone posted tomorrow. He is still wagging his tail. It is a weapon!!! He knocks things over with that tail!!!!!!!
He jumped up on our treatment supervisor, Matt Proctor this afternoon. He is also in our treatment room 2, which is less critical than treatment room 1 where he has been staying.

Sorry about that. I was just posting what they had posted on Facebook.

Thank you to all three families that have stepped up to help Johnny Walker before and after this unfortunate event.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Okay - I was just going on what was posted too.

Now his name will be extra long!!

Hoping Jonny's surgery goes well today, and he does well with his heartworm treatment.
