I would definetely check with the vet first. I remember the few times I've used static guard, Tubby would start sneezing and coughing really bad. Got to the point where I made sure he wasn't in the room when I sprayed it. But even when I finally let him in after I thought all the fumes were gone, he'd still sneeze a few times and wrinkle up his nose like there was something nasty around, and start breathing funny. It seemed like it really affected his breathing most. Don't know if it was the fumes or just the fact that it comes from a pressurized, aerosol can. I think the dryer sheets might be a better alternative in this case.
