When the weather is hot and humid, my cats are like land mines in my house. They all try to find the coolest part (usually the bathroom floor) and they don't move until they hear the can opener.

Adorable picture. Yes,there sure is size difference and if I can ever get a picture of both of my girls together it would look something like your Steve and Gigi. Pearl is 9lbs and Ziggy is (or at least was on Sun. June 13th) a whopping 15.9lbs. She's now on a much needed diet and my vet wants her to lose at least 2 lbs. Storm is my largest cat in length and is about 14.1lbs and Sky also weighed 13.5lbs as of June 13th so I have to watch his weight too.

For the past 2 years, I've been taking my 3 long haired cats to the groomers for annual lion cuts. This really helps them stay much cooler in the summer and I don't have A/C either. I already made an appointmet for Sat. July 3rd so hopefully everything will go well. Maybe you could try a lion cut out on Steve. It takes about 5-6 months for their fur to grow back completely which works out great because this is when it starts getting much cooler again.

They have the same difference in size as Tigris and Filou. I think the different style and character of cats is one of the fascinating things about them.

Steve is at his maximum weight so we're going to try scheduled feedings, but I'm not looking forward to it. I tried last year to give them 3 feedings a day but Steve freaked. If he doesn't see food in the bowl he starts to chew everything in sight - the chairs, edges of the table etc. It's like he goes in panic mode. Meanwhile, Gigi is so small that she needs to have access to food. It's a hard situation.

Thanks for the suggestion - re: lion's cut. I would love to get Steve shaved but I don't think he would tolerate it. When we first brought him home, we had the groomer shave his butt and he freaked at the groomers and then when he came home he started peeing on the bed. It frightened him too much. We have A/C so I'm not that worried, but would love to shave him since it would help with all the hair he leaves everywhere!
Don't be afraid that your life will end. Be afraid that it will never begin.
