What little news I was able to catch was definitely telling Obama to "Stop trashing Britain!". I was usually too tired by the time we got back to our hotel to watch news. I took a bath and went to bed. I did bring a newspaper home but I wanted to bring 3, the left, the right and the independent. I just was too rushed, unfortunately. One commentator did say "how dare Obama dictate what a company should do w/its money and whether or not bonuses should be paid". Right. I wonder if they'd feel that way if the situation were reversed.

Bozo? What Bozo. The Bozo is the one doing the shakedown.

Oil companies pay MMS a tax per barrel of oil which is supposed to be set aside (where have we heard that term before.....lockbox sound familiar?) for use in cleaning up spills.

They are already paying for spill cleanup.....now it's not enough, so the US Govt is going to "put their boot on the neck" of BP to correct Congressional errors?

I'd be investigating Congress to find out what they did with all the spill cleanup money they squandered.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 increased the maximum size of the Fund to $2.7 billion.





Given they know what Valdez has cost and will cost, I think Congress dropped the ball in not increasing the size of the "fund" beyond $2.7B........but wait.......there was no fund:

The only crooks I saw have already been replaced in the Federal agency
that allowed BP is set their own safety standards on drilling in deepwater.
They shouldn't be allowed to be the judge of how much damage is being
done by their own carelessness & greed.

From everything from how much crude is escaping from the broken well,
to how much damage has already been done, they have lowballed the
numbers. They cannot be trusted to get anything right.

I am kinda hoping/wishing that the spill stops on it's own, that way everyone will stand there, fingers hidden in their underwear, trying to figure out what's going on.


I think that would be poetic justice.
