Here in Delaware it's illegal to keep any animals that would normally be in the wild. We're supposed to call the Wildlife Preserve, and they will pick them up. Believe it or not - it applies to rabbits too.
I guess you know that I did not make any calls to them, and I successfully raised some wild bunnies.
Another note - sad tho..On my way in to town this a.m. there was a baby red fox dead on the shoulder of the road. Poor little guy.....
These little guys are adorable. Best of luck raising then!

What will you do when they get bigger? Is there a place you can take them to be released or do you have enough land yourself?
well, we planned on realeasing them at the farm, but now I think we are going to take them to my friends house. She has alot of land and lives way back in a holler. She LOVES deer and has many that come right up to her house that she feeds. Plus there is a big pond near her house. I'm sure they will be happy there when they are old enough to fend for theirselves
Are those fawns ever cuteHow often do you feed them & how much do they drink at a time? Are they white tails & what sex are they? Lots of questions but I am curious to know. We sometimes have to bottle feed calfs on our farm, twice a day & about a quart per feeding of milk replacer.
Oh so adorable!!! I love their spindly wee legs in that video.![]()

I'm sorry, I havn't been on here in a few days. They are around 2 1/2 weeks old now so I'm feeding them every 5-6 hours. They usually drink almost in entire 8 oz bottle with each feeding. They are white tails and one is a buck and the other is a doe. The doe is a little larger and has white socks. She also has a darker face and darker spots on her head. The male is a little smaller and has a lighter face and lighter spots. He also just has stripes on his feet instead of socks. If you look at both of them together you can tell a differace. They have differant attitudes to. The doe is more interested in people and wants to graze in the yard alll the time, and the male is a little more shy and jumpy, but all he wants to do is run and play outside. He also eats more then his sister.
It is also illegal in West Virgina to rehabilitate wild animals without having a permit. Same goes for Wisconsin, where I am. Fairly hefty fine and jail time if found guilty. http://www.wvdnr.gov/2007news/07news069.shtm
Luckily, there is a rehabilitiation center not too far from my house - I make numerous stops there with critters. Most recently, an injured hen mallard - she had the majority of her scalp missing. I'd post a pic, but it is too graphic. How she was still alive I will never understand. I have a feeling they may have put her to sleep ... at least she is out of misery.
The pictures of the faws are adorable! Makes me wish they'd stay that small!!

Sounds like they are keeping you very busy. It is nice to hear how well they are doing.
How sweet they are! I love the photo of them looking at your dog!
Two nights in a row I've seen a doe standing by the side of the road by my building (one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 40). They blend in so well with the trees, and the street lights are far apart. I like to see them, but they move so fast and I am always afraid I won't see them in time while I'm driving. I also saw one in the same spot coming home from church on Sunday. I saw her way in advance, broad daylight, so I was able to slow down in case she decided to walk into the street. She didn't, thank goodness.
