How do you do, Pjevs! What a handsome tuxedo cat you are! And how very nice to meet you today (since you're wearing a tuxedo I think I should be on my best behavior ) Please permit Martin to give you some petting from me.

I've been so lucky to meet your Pjevs a few times, he is such a friendly boy and very laid back.

Martin, isn't he 11 now? How is he getting along with Tilde and the kittens? Hey, you better be on your toes... don't let him pee on your guitar!

Did you know we had a Pjevs in our backyard a few years ago, he lived there for over ten years. He was really sweet and I miss him.

    Here's a picture of him:

I thought he looked familar and now I know why because I remember Randi talking about him and posting his pictures. I'm glad to hear that he now has a wonderful home. It's also very nice to meet you Martin. My name is Tracey.

Tracey, the two Pjevs' do look a lot like each other, but sadly, Pjevs in our backyard had to be put to sleep in 2006. He had been here before John and I moved in in 1994.

Martin's Pjevs is still going strong.

I am surprised to see another handsome Pjevs- who looks just like the son of Randi's Pjevs whom we all loved- until he went to Rainbow Bridge where he plays now with John and my Tigris
What does Pjevs mean- I always kind of thought it was just like the latin Pius- but it seems to mean something different in Danish?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. Maybe I already knew this but I forgot. I didn't think that the name Pjev's was a popular name but what do I know.

Pjevs is a Danish word often used for kittens or any little creature evoking sympathy, baby talk, and a need to pick it up and cuddle it. Where in English you might use "Oh you poor little ragamuffin / sweetiepie / I could just eat you up etc". When he came to the house he had been living outside, and looked rather pathetic. When Kate split from her husband, the father of the kids, he wouldn't let Pjevs in the house, and the kids had to smuggle food out to him. By the time Kate won the house and kids back, he looked even more 'Pjevs'-y than before. Now he is in fine shape (and thanks for the compliments), and by muscleing in on Tilde's feeding times is beginning to find the cat door a tight fit. His reaction to the kittens is to be absent. If it is not raining, he just stays out all day, and generally pretends the whole thing is not happening. Things may be different when they start walking around the place, which is going to be soon. They are all trying to get up and go!
