Here's little Maddox enjoying a hamburger in Central Park. He is apparently off his painkillers.

He's pretty bruised, but the difference is amazing.

    Little Maddox released from hospital

After undergoing more than four hours of life-changing surgery Monday, two-and-a-half-year-old Maddox Flynn was released from a New York hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Little Maddox was up and moving around early Tuesday outside his room at the Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

Maddox was born with a lymphatic malformation on the left side of his face. Monday marked the second surgery for the youngster. Back in May, Dr. Milton Waner and his surgical team operated on the growth around his left eye. The second surgery involved the removal of a large mass on the lower portion of Maddox's face.

With his mother Nicole, father Mike, Grandma Pat and Grandpa Jeep by his side, the youngster was wheeled into the operating room Monday.

Maddox's father says he is amazed at the resilience of his young son.

"He's doing awesome," Mike Flynn told CTV News. "No complications."

Dr. Waner's team spent nearly an hour using a new technique to map out where the main nerve and the branches of the nerve were located on Maddox's face.

With that part competed, Dr. Waner was able to safely remove all the excess tissue and growth around the nerves.

Maddox and his family will be returning to New York for steroid injections sometime in August. The little guy is then scheduled to return to the Big Apple for what the doctor calls a "touch-up" surgery in October.

Maddox is scheduled to fly home from New York in one week.
