When we got home tonight, Daisy had eaten more meat and some dried food during the day. Her purr seems stronger tonight too. I really am starting to hope that it is "only" pneumonia and not something worse.

    Thank you all so much!

Wonderful to hear that Daisy has eaten.
(That's our daily discussion here regarding Filou )
I am also clinging to the pneumonia theory. If she eats it must mean that she smells something- so that is a good sign too.

I hope to read an update that Daisy is stronger today, eating better and that the pneumonia will soon be a thing of the past.

Karen, it's a good sign that she has got her appetite back. Is that the Royal Canin Senior she's eating? I hope she will continue to feel better all the time!

Kisses to Daisy - and to Sam and Jessica, too.

So sorry, I am just now seeing this. But I am glad to hear it sounds like Daisy is getting better. With some antibiotics and a little PT Power she should be good as new soon.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I'm sorry to say that I am updating with very bad news. We had to let Daisy go last night.

Unlike on Friday, I don't think she ate at all yesterday. We were out for a while in the afternoon when, of course, the vet called with the results from her xrays. By the time we were back home, the vet's office was closed.

She was still very wheezy when we came home and just lying in her bed. A couple of hours later her breathing became much more laboured. She tried to hide under the bed, but stopped and just lay down beside me. I was able to give her cuddles, but she didn't respond with headbumpies which she had been giving all week.

We had to call the emergency vet. His feeling was that it was not a heart problem, and if it was pneumonia, then it was an extreme case. When pressed, he was of the opinion that she probably would not make it until morning. She was suffering, and we didn't want that to go on longer than necessary.

It was very peaceful and quick. Later her mummy had a little sniff round her. Sammy didn't go too close though.

We buried Daisy in the garden this morning and the sun is shining on her at the moment. She loved her garden and I am sure that is where her spirit will be. Well, maybe on our bed at night too.

    Godspeed my sweetheart.

Oh Karen, I'm so very sorry. I had not expected this.

Daisy was such a beautiful girl and I know you will miss her, but I think she would have agreed to let her go and not suffer, so I think you made the right decision. I hope it will be a comfort that she had a wonderful life with you, Sam and Jessica. I know she loved the garden, so I'm glad to hear she is resting there.

Rest in peace, sweet Daisy! Your mom, dad and Sam and Jessica will be around you and you will always be in their hearts.

    ((((hugs))))

    Karen,
what a tough thing to go through- all in such a short time. I am so sorry that Daisy didn't make it- the last update certainly made us hope.
But I am sure you made the right decision.
It is good that Jessica and Sam got to see what happened to Daisy. You know Filou has been around when Tigris left us and while they had been together since their rambunctious teenage weeks Filou never once went in search for him.
Daisy now is in peace in her lovely garden and it is you and Alec and the remaining 2 grey ladies who are in our thoughts.
