Is Fritz's tail cut or is it natural?

Oh just wanted to warn you, I never like the cut on the first day when I go get him from the groomer because they froof him and get rid of his curls. But after a couple days, I love it So don't get scared if they give you a big puffball if thats not what you wanted, hehe.

Fritz says thank you very much Reece. That is so cute! I asked the groomer for a puppy cut and he knew what it was. Actually, he suggested it. His tail is cropped, I didn't have a choice. 4 more days! I'm sure I'll have lots of good puppy stories starting Saturday!

Tanya can't wait to see pics and hear all about Fritz!!! Aly you are amazing as usual!! Love that little Reece guy!! All of my dogs have had cropped tails. It is done, along with the dew claws, when they are only a few days old I believe. I think the only way to have a poodle with his/her natural tail is to select a puppy immediately after birth and make that arrangement with the breeder. I don't know how often that is done though.

Reece's tail isn't cropped. I wish I knew more about his history. He's been in at least 3 other homes besides mine but I know nothing about any of them except the last people only had him a month and gave him back to the humane society when they were evicted. Lucky for me!!!

Aly...I don't usually say unkind things about people, but the last people who had Reece only for a month and then gave him up must have been idiots! (Lucky for you!)

Pam, I'm the same way. Never an evil thought in my mind until I see people at the shelter dumping their pets. What really makes me mad is when they say they're "donating" them. Or when they say the pet is "worthless".

Hi there not to take any thing away from your pet peeves, but at least they are giving them a chance. The vet I worked for people would bring them in to be put down cuz they didn't want them to possible suffer. The excuses made me sick,it got to big ,it sheds, we have a new house,new baby,or it doesn't fit our life style. Or then there is the others in a migrant camp they move on and leave the pets that they gathered behind.I don't like the shelters eaither but at least it is a safer place for the animal. Corinna

Its not the shelters I have a problem with, its the people who bring their animals to one And the people who take them to kill shelters I have BIG problems with. I totally see it from your point but sometimes I just need to vent out the frusteration from seeing so many animals given up daily.

Aly, what do you mean by kill shelter? Would a vet actually put down a healthy dog?

Yes, many, many healthy pets are put to sleep everyday as many Humane Society's and kill shelters only hold a animal for a few days and if its not claimed or adopted they have no room for all the unwanted pets that people throw away and many end up being put down. Aly, and many others who are more informed can tell you lots on this sad subject.

Where I live in Canada, we don't kill dogs at our Humane Society unless they're sick. If they've been there a while, they go to foster homes until they're adopted. I guess we're pretty lucky. I can't imagine dropping my pet off at the front door. How can people do that? Do they not get attached to their pets the way we do? Also, my vet won't put down a healthy dog. I just called him to find out. He refuses to do it. He won't crop ears either. Yeah!!!

The shelters around here all have different kill rates. There is one where they only have about 10 days to be up for adoption and then they are put down. Several animals there don't even make it to the adoption area for reasons such as shyness. I'm on rescue lists and get my email flooded daily with pleas for help on saving a life from that shelter. There are other shelters that will keep them for longer but in order to keep certain ones longer, they have to kill others. The shelters who don't kill unfortunately have selective intake. They have to try to get pretty adoptable animals in order to get them out fast so they can rescue more. Its just a sad, sad thing.
