How terrifying! I am SO glad he will be home soon.

When do they think it will be safe for him to get a dental done?

HUGS and give that poor boy lots of cuddles from me (after you are done with yours!).

I just spoke with the hospital - Duffy is doing well. But he hasn't eaten. I told them he probably doesn't like their food - try some of the grocery-store type canned stuff!

I'll speak with them again early in the morning, and hopefully bring him home. I'm not worried about the eating - he will when he gets home.

Candace - he did get his teeth cleaned today, once his heart started beating again. But we'll think twice about it in the future.

He will get lots and lots of loving when he's home. Funny - we have 6 cats, so the absence of one shouldn't make things seem that much different. But it feels like there is this monster void here right now - like we're down 3 instead of just 1

Grace - my goodness, what a fright! He WILL eat when he gets home...he is a CAT, and won't deign to eat the nasty vet stuff!

You might ask the vet about prevention so he won't need as many cleanings, or even another one.

I have had my two boys for about 5 and 4 years respectively - and they have yet to have a dental! Might be just dumb luck and genetics - but I give them Medi-Treats (from the vet - nice fishy smell!), and also Greenies. Mostly I give hard treats that are organic or a good quality. Several a day seem to keep dentals away.

Also - they get a little wet food in the morning, and just kibble the rest of the time. Hard food and treats help clean the teeth, according to my vet.

Sorry to run on...just hope poor Duffy doesn't have to face this again for a long time, if ever!

How scary. I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm glad to hear that he's doing well and hopefully he'll be home with you tomorrow morning. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way.

Wow, that was scary and a close call, too! I'm glad that Duffy is doing better now. It wasn't Ketamine Hydrochloride by any chance, was it?
    Blessings,
    Mary
