Since I think building toys are the all around best toy and love Lego bricks - how about a starter set of Quatro blocks?? Either that or Duplo - just bigger chunkier versions of Lego. It has been a VERY long time since I had a toddlers - but I know that all three of my grown kids *still* own and play with Lego!!
