So glad to be back online after a 5 week period of no computer. Love this thread!!

I am watching the reruns today of the Worst Chef. I am shocked at who won. I thought it would be the other one(in case someone hasn't seen it). Did anyone notice the judge, Kareen Bacume(not spelled right), and how much weight she lost? She looks fantastic!!

Richard, I'm with you, as always, Ina Garten is so stuffy-la tee daaaaa. I can't stand to watch her anymore. It's all about her cooking, and, her period.

I also love Anne Burrell. Isn't she great?

I saw the cute little Mexican girl last weekend. Adorable. However, everything she's made was kinda already done. Richard, I'm thinking you can get your own show.

Paula Deen does keep wearing that billion dollars worth of rings. TAKE THEM OFF PAULA!! I can imagine the ground meat and food particles in them. Yuck!!
She doesn't have alot of good manners when eating.

    I've been Boo'd...
    Thanks Barry!

Well... I googled the "Worst Cooks" runner-up to see if anyone offered her a scholarship to culinary school - nothing yet, but she does have a fans' group on Facebook.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!

    I was wondering about you!!!!

That Kareen woman's dress? I notice it as they showed her walking up to where JS stood by while the women opened the door for themselves!

    ----------------

    Worst chef?

Am I wrong for thinking that the people who improved, should have been thrown out?

    The Mexican girl?

I was with her on the first and third dishes, but when she started the "Eggs Benidictos? I laughed.

    Follow my logic here?

The 'mexicanize' the Benedict and not the eggs?

So, it should be Huevos Benedict...

    LOL,
    I am being a moron.

    Orange,

You haven't seen PD stick her fingers into a guest cook's mouth?

    That's nasty!

I've got my hands even fuller these days, Richard. I will try my best to get here as often as possible. I miss the board so much.

Chef Beau seems like he could be a real hothead.

    Thanks, Richard!!

RR has a problem there. Oh my! I hope the dog can be trained and spared from the unspeakable. I had no idea that Isaboo had any other attacks under her belt/collar. Oh Lord. I am hoping for the best.

She doesn't seem like a responsible owner, the dog should wear a muzzle on walks to keep this from happening. I am sure she loves her baby, but owning a pittie is not for everyone.

RR boards the dog during the day while she's at work.

It was a clip in a bio about her. The dog is taken/dropped off at a day care/kennel in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.

The dog does not have to be PTS, That is a selfish, stupid thought and that's is the mentality of a 'blind' pet owner.

Look at M.Vick's dogs! They were rehomed and some were PIT bulls.

When people are overly enamoured with their dogs, they overlook the basic tenets of owning dogs.

The dog should be spared life with her and her husband.

If she cares as much about Izzy as she says she does, I think she will find a better way to deal with this. I really believe RR is a true lover of animals. Her schedule may not permit her to spend as much time with her as she needs to but I hope this brings out a need to make some time in one or both of their schedules. To put the dog down would be ridiculous without trying to train her or muzzle her or whatever else they can do.
Best wishes to all of them. I would not like to hear about euthanizing her for "convenience". She seems like a good girl and deserves better.

Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert are doing a radio show on XM's Martha Stewart Living Radio starting on Thursdays for the next 5 weeks, It will feature a 'food porn' section during the broadcast.

Just flashed by the Martha Stewart Show and am watching her with A Bourdain and E Ripert.

I am losing all respect for AB- Don't care for Ripert-He seems to me like he's a Franco snob who's here in America, making fun of our food.

Martha Stewart is a know all-be all nag that has to interrupt every guest on her show to make sure they know she knows a bit more than we think.

AB is becoming the media whore that fame turns people into.

He's always bagging on the food network, but will align himself with the evil witch?

    A burger post?

    http://www.slashfood.com/2010/02/26/...-food-festi%2F

Notice that Guy Fieri has bodyguards now.

    ----------

    Who invented "Umami"?

It's been promoted as the 'fifth' taste and I was wondering when people would to jump on it as a 'food fad'.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umami

I was watching a news/lifestyle report on the local TV station and a woman was doing a report on a hamburger joint that opened with the name "Umami".

    http://www.nbclosangeles.com/around-...-70574947.html

Here in El Lay you can find almost anything to eat...If it's on the Food Channel, we have already seen it here.....I find umami to be a gimmick, not a real kind of food, but more like a concept towards food and it's prep.

The word, because of it Japanese roots, kinda grinds to a halt when I hear abouts chefs tweaking it and using it to sell hamburgers.

The burger pictured in the link was the star of the news clip. I tried to find the clip on the news web site, but could not.....

The reporter, who was an Asian woman, went to Umami to taste the burger!

The chef showed her what is in it - he did not cook it in front of her, rather it was made, taken apart and reassembled at the table- You could see where the roasted tomato was smeared on the cheese part of the burger.

It's a six ounce meat patty, a 'slice' of cheese that was grated and put onto a tray and melted, then cut into a square. Roasted tomato slices, a whole mushroom and the top of the bun finish it out.

She starts to bite into it and describes it, "I can taste the meat, the mushroom, but I don't taste the umami!" The cook tells her, "The umami is in there!"

    I started to laugh.....

Is it a soy sauce or a enhancement of the food by using the sauce? And would sending an ethnic reporter make her better suited to tell us what this umami is?

Ole GF has bodyguards? I wonder if somebody is after him??

Umami is the most complicated thing I have ever tried to understand. Mainly because there is nothing I can use to describe it in terms I can understand. [That even sounds confusing]

Richard, are you watching the little Mexican girl that's on on Saturday morning? She sounds like Mickey Mouse. Cute as a button. She looks like a little kid but seems to have some cooking skills.

I have been taking a break from the usual TVFN stuff, it seems like they take a theme and schedule it across all the programming.

I noticed that pot pies were 'hot' last week? After I saw Tyler F gush over his ultimate recipe, I felt dirty and lost the taste for any kind of pies....

I try to put alarms/warnings for the programs on my cable channel, then I have the TV off during that time.

I did catch the premiere of the LMG when she first came out.

    Tweeting taco trucks?

This is almost two different topics.

Taco trucks...there are the Mexican version of a roach coach. We have had a problem with trucks that are not licensed to serve food, stay in one area and the neighborhood complains about them being there for various reasons.
Too many people parking on the street, littering, loitering and stuff like that.

Recently the owner of a empty car lot had the idea of inviting the trucks to go there and serve food. I guess he was charging rent to them-THAT idea ran afoul of the city laws and ended rather quickly. So, some of the more popular trucks will post their location on the internet.

In the same clip there was a truck that served Korean BBQ on tortillas.
The sauces in KBBQ are rather sweet and have wonderful spicyness to them.

I think I know what they would taste like....
