John and Deb- cats are so good in hiding what ails them. We lost our sweet sweet Tigris in September to cancer of the liver and the peritoneum and we didn't notice any change in our boy until two weeks before his death when what we thought was a rise in weight that could not be explained was more than a quart liquid in his belly.
We feel guilty because we had a biopsy made as the liquid made the diagnosis impossible otherwise. He was happy before the biopsy and passed away shortly after.
I think we shouldn't feel guilty- Lucky and Tigris were really really ill and we had no idea about that when we made the decisions. I am sorry for you that you didn't have the chance to say goodbye to Lucky- it is very sad and makes the passing even more difficult. But it is no reason for guilt.
May Tigris and Lucky now play at Rainbow Bridge.
