Assuming the picture needs no correction other than cropping. For a 11x14 picture printed on 200 dpi printer to have a decent picture, a 6,5 megapixal camera would be enough. Below is
the calculation used to make this determination,
200 dpi is rule of thumb to get a film quality. Now calculate total pixals reeded on 11x14 photo.
Multiply the width x 200......Multiply the height x 200
200x11=2200 ................. 200x14=2800
multply width pixals x the Helght pixals = total pixals needed for a 200 dpi image for a 11x14 picture.
2200x2800= 6,160,000 = 6,1 megapixal required
This is a guessamate. Most SLR have 6.5+ megapixals unless this is an older camera.
