You go girl!!
Question: Was this officer on duty? And lesson learned - get the persons name.

I had something similar happen to me and I did get a ticket!! It was a four lane road, two lanes going each direction. It was in the morning and usually there are two crossing guards working both sides of the street. Well this one morning a police officer was helping the crossing guard out and manning the one side of the street (opposite side that I was on). I had a co-worker and her son in the car with me. I passed by the crosswalk and in my review mirror I see the police officer running to his car and then he's behind me with his lights on. I'm thinking what the heck did I do?!?!
He follows me to my work (which was a day care center) and tells me the crossing guard blew her whistle and had stepped out onto the street and I didn't stop. I said - First of all the passenger side window was down and none of us heard a whistle and if she had been in the street I would have hit her!
Regardless he gave me a ticket. And then to add insult to injury I had parked right by the two year old classroom and the idiotic teacher in there brings her class out to "see the police man". While I'm standing there in tears because I'm so mad. Later she tried to apologize to me for it but I wouldn't have it.

So my story is a bit different because there was a crosswalk. But it's my word against the officers. It wasn't worth fighting. Too bad this ROAD WARRIOR wasn't in Coalinga, CA back then.
