We had a little adventure at work on Wednesday. I am putting it here because I'm not sure where else it should go, and I'm also not sure it deserves its own thread.
I work in a very pet-friendly office. More dogs than cats, but some people have both dogs and cats. Last week there was an e-mail that went around about the Dairyland Greyhound track up in Wisconsin needing to find homes for their dogs, and a second one from a co-worker's family member who adopted a retired greyhound describing some of the criteria for potential adopters.
The IT guy called one of my co-workers Wednesday afternoon. He got a text from his sister, who'd had her dog at the veterinarian. A man came in with two 8-week-old shorthaired pointers that he wanted pts because they had overbites. The vet told the man that was out of the question and offered him some options, like taking them to a shelter or contacting a rescue organization. The man left the puppies there. Our IT guy got a text from his sister - help, one of the pups needs somewhere to go for the weekend. So my co-worker talked to her husband and they started trying to figure out how and when they would get the pup. About an hour later the vet called back -- in less than two hours, both pups had already been rehomed. There were more people willing to take them than there were pups! Overbite, shmoverbite.
