I had a Bissell, it has the lift off feature where you can detach the bagless canister and hose part from the actual upright part and I loved it. Had it for about 7 years, paid about $175 for it. The carpet brush motor broke, but I can still use the lift off part of it. I'm hoping to save up for a Dyson next.

I purchased an Electrolux back in 1987 and I'm his second owner. He's still going strong and would use nothing else. Don't know if that brand is still around though.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

With as good as the Bissell performs, what is the advantage of paying more money for the Dyson? Just curious.
