The pill form must taste really nasty, because it's the only pill I've ever had trouble getting Gatsby to take. So the ear-rub form would be preferable for that reason.
Gatsby didn't take amitriptyline long enough to know how well he would have adjusted, but his personality was much different during the week he took it. He was very subdued, pretty much stayed in one place most of the time, didn't want to play or sit on my lap.He might have adjusted to it over time, though.
I don't recall the cost off the top of my head, but it's an inexpensive medication.
