How scarey! Is there any chance the cop 'thought' you could see him? I mean that you could see his uniform? A bit of lighting in your yard?
Not to scare you more, but after living next to a drug house for years, (they're gone, thank God)I've come to the conclusion, druggies tend to think, YOU are a druggie too, simply because you live next door. Hopefully, they'll not be your neighbors for long.

HAHA yeah... I had to collect my thoughts and come back to reality when I almost ran out in front of the door in the nude

No there was no lighting in my yard at all and he was shining the light right into my eyes once he realized I was there... I couldn't see anything but spots for a second.

I understand what he was thinking... that if he said it was the cops that the guy would run... but I think I would rather have to chase a suspect and be tired... then scare the living poop out of someone who is armed and act like an intruder and end up dead. I mean that's the worst case scenario but yeah....

BUT our front lights were on so the number of our house could clearly be seen and his partner was in the right yard the whole time... so not sure how this guy ended up in our yard.

Brian said he was probably a rookie and my dad said after being confronted at the door by the snarling beast that was Beezer probably had him as scared as I was.

yes we had quite a good laugh after everything calmed down about Belle's reaction. She was super excited like someone had come to visit her lol. She seriously was just dancing around the house tail wagging so hard her whole butt was shaking. she was... HAPPY LOL

    Wow,
Glad that it stopped where it did.

Had things gone horribly wrong - let's say the cop opened your FD and walked in to the house and you had mistaken him for an intruder?

You would have been treated like trash and handled accordingly.

Out here in the 'wild west' innocent people get shot by the cops and there is no justice done.

Yes, they have a hard job and can't predict the future or read minds, but, there have been cases where the PO's will run into a yard chasing after a suspect and a homeowner, who comes out to investigate noise about the house, is mistaken for a 'perp' and gets blown out of their shoes.

The PO's and PD won't be investigated by an outside entity. The internal affairs section comes out and rules in their own favor!

Oops! The officer feared for his life and shot the wrong guy because it was dark and the person had what the PO thought was a gun.

I think I'd still be cleaning out my drawers today.

    Wow....

How scary! I'm glad you guys are OK. A TBone steak for Beezer (hint, hint!)

A few years back when I let Logan out for her last pee of the night, she went ballistic at our side fence. On the other side was a guy with a flashlight walking around. I must have been crazy, but, I ran over and demanded to know who he was and he was a cop. I made him show me ID. There had been a complaint of someone walking through our backyards. I'm the only property with a fence. I told the cop he was lucky I had a fence. I think Logan shocked him and he apologized. I should have complained. I also need my head examined for daring to take a risk. Duh.

Don't know. Don't care. In the moment, that is not my problem. And in this particular instance, I could not see a thing. His dang flashlight was in my face. LOL

Yeah... I don't think that will be a problem. They know we have big dogs and that I am a "gun nut". You should have seen the stares I got coming back from a dove hunting trip one afternoon. I was in full camo and had one of my shotguns slung on my shoulder. Around here, that is not a big deal to most people. It was a big event to them apparently.
