You could also put the litterbox somewhere that the dog isn't allowed access. We installed a cat sized pet door in our basement door so our cat can use the litterbox down there and not have to meow to have the door opened in the middle of the night. Would it be possible to install a pet door for the cat that the dog wouldn't fit through?
