My heart hurts so much for you. It is so unfair that our babies get these terrible people diseases! We are all here for you. I hope that you can feel the love being sent your way.

Thank you all for all the good wishes and prayers and candles.

Peony has kidney and liver issues, so I have been giving her fluids for quite a while. She was eating very little starting about a week and a half ago, then didn't want to eat at all for the next couple of days (Thursday and Friday).

She has been to two different vets the last two days, who both have seen her before and know varying amounts of her history. She has a mass in her abdomen, probably some in the lungs too. And she's dehydrated and has fluid in her abdominal area.

The first vet gave her 300ml subQ on Friday and said if she was still dehydrated Saturday to take her to the emergency clinic for IV fluids. And she gave her Metronidazole for an increased WBC, which we'd been working on for a while.

Peony was still dehydrated on Saturday, plus a friend sent me an article by a vet saying Metronidazole should be used sparingly if at all on cats with kidney or liver issues.

I took her to the other vet for a second opinion. She gave her a steroid injection and pills (prednisolone) and supplements to see if we can give Peony as much good time as she can have. She's keeping her on subQ fluids but upped the amount. She also noticed that Peony's breathing was somewhat labored and told me if that gets worse over the weekend to take her to the emergency clinic to let her go, as that is frightening for a cat to have a hard time breathing (as it would be for me).

She is eating again, not a lot but with enjoyment, yummies like baby food and juicy flaky Fancy Feast several times a day. So I figured, if she's eating and enjoying her food, she's not QUITE ready to check out, and I'll call Dr. Lewis (the second vet) tomorrow morning.

But I noticed the expanded abdominal area, I guess from the excess fluid. I also noticed her breathing problem, but I don't know if it's worse than yesterday. Now I'm wondering if I should take her to the emergency vet to see if the abdominal fluid can/should be drained, or if that can wait until tomorrow morning. (I wish this wasn't happening on Sunday!)

Thanks again for all your good wishes and prayers, and for the candles. Peony and I are both happy and grateful for the light shining on us.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Gentle hugs and purrs to both you and Peony. May what time she has left be pain free and when she is gone, your heart heal without (to much) pain.
