I'll comment when you come to the party!

You have to understand, I have dial up at home - where everything takes forever - so the only option is to view at work (which I just did) and I have to be VERY DISCREET about it. I didn't know what it was going to be like!

Let me know what you think about "Gonna be Naked all Summer at Sunny Rest".

Hope you are all relaxed and happy and enjoying your summer like I am!!
Hey Jennie! It's your musician friend Mike From Sunny Rest. I was getting a lot of hits on the video from Pet of the Day, so I came over to investigate. It took me a long time to find your thread, and I enjoyed reading your accounts of your Sunny Rest experience!

BTW, I have an Australian Cattle Dog (blue heeler) named "Chase"

Awwww... Hi Mike!!! Welcome to Pet Talk!!

BTW... I was "glad" about the video stopping at your waist otherwise I wouldn't have been able to link it. Just so you know it wasn't a "mean" comment. We have to have everything above boards here on Pet Talk cause it's a family site.

I understand! I didn't think they would post it on youtube otherwise! And I'm not sure I'd want to advertise it either! LOL!

    Thanks for sharing my song!

Cardboard boat regatta and Naked Carpenters!!!

Wellllllll...... it's been a busy busy week at Sunny Rest!!

Last weekend was the annual cardboard boat regatta. It was a hoot! There were 10 groups that made cardboard boats and paddled them across the pool. Most looked like your typical cardboard boats with tons of duct tape, but the real amazing one, that actually won a bunch of times, was shaped like a Christmas tree, lol. They were the "Christmas in August" people, and it had garland and balls, and all kinds of stuff on it. Everyone on their team had something red or green or Christmas themed on. It was cute and funny and a riot to watch them. The team that won were the Pink Ladies, and they were sailing their boat for breast cancer awareness. It had pink feather boas stapled to the sides and all kinds of cute pink stuff to decorate it, but they also had the pink ribbons and all that on the boat.

The other fun stuff this week has been watching my boyfriend and his friends do roofing over one of the campers up there. The camper belongs to a woman named SnowWhite (yes.... that's what I said, lol), and she has been having problems with her roof leaking. So, Dave and his buddy Kenny have been building a connecting roof between two separate roofs on over her camper and addition. It's hard work, but they're doing a great job. It's been SOOOOO hot up here, the guys are just baked by the end of the day.

One of our other friends has been doing painting, and he's been our cook for our breaks. He's amazing!!!! We supply him with the food, and he makes it how he thinks it will be good. He made a roast the one night, OMG, it was to die for! It was a marinated roast, he drained it, then smothered it in olive oil and garlic, then he rolled it in COFFEE GROUNDS! Seriously! He put it over the hottest the grill could go, and seared it on each side for 5 to 10 minutes to carbonize the coffee grounds, and then took it off the high heat and let it cook for another 45 minutes until about 80% done. After that he sliced it and made it "cooked to order". Some wanted well done, while I wanted mine medium rare. It was just out of this world delicious!!!

On other fronts (and backs) I'm getting super tanned. I'm still not what you'd call golden brown, but it's more of a reddish brown because of my skin tone. I got a little too much yesterday, it was just clear skies and really hot, and I wasn't even laying out for that long. I was at the pool, laid out there for a while, then was in the pool, then decided to have a salad and go up to see how the men were doing with the roof. They decided to name themselves the Mountain Oyster Boys, Inc. . Like I should be surprised, lol. They are so goofy. I read my book most of the time, because between you and me, you can only watch men's janglies for so long before it gets boring, or you go "Yeouch!! Watch that hammer!!!"

This weekend one of Dave's friend's is coming up with his girlfriend, so it will be interesting to see how that goes. I don't know this guy at all, but it's someone Dave worked with in his laborers' union.

Gotta get back to doing some wash. Not too much to do, lol, but have some shorts and tshirts that need to be freshened up. Things get musty smelling at the cabin, or they end up smelling smoky from being at the night club and the bar. Not my favorite smell in the world (I hate the smell of cigarettes). Will let you guys know of any other fun stuff that happens in the next week!!!

    Last weekend of the season

Well, it's the last weekend of the season, and I'm amazed at how quickly it all went by. I keep thinking about how nervous I was and what I should or should not wear, lol, and looking backing on it, it really makes me laugh. I still do worry about what to wear, but it's in context with what is going on up there (theme nights at the night club), or if it's going to be chilly, then what should I bring with me.

I'm going to try to get some pics of the place this weekend before everyone is awake and so you can see what the resort looks like without people running around, because it's a green, woodsy place to be and it's so relaxing. Have to remember to charge my camera battery and hope to not catch anyone while they are taking a morning walk, lol.

This summer really changed me. It made me realize what is important and what is not so important. That I can be relaxed just being me, and not worrying about what other people are thinking (although that crossed my mind now and again... but that's normal). I'm so much more at ease with myself. I think that's the biggest gain of all. I still want to lose weight, and I'm still dieting, but I'm much more comfortable with my body, and that's a huge deal for me.

Anyway, just thought I'd post this small thing before I went away for the weekend and had some time to think about what I wanted to say. I'll post pics later next week of the resort if I can get some good ones. It's really a lovely place to go.

BTW... if anyone, besides the person who just PM'd me, is tired of this thread and it's "non-sense", I'm sorry... it's just been such a neat experience, and I wanted to share it. Like I said, it's the end of the season, so it will be over soon, lol.

I have really enjoyed reading about your experience and the transformation you've gone through in your life. Whether anyone agrees or doesn't agree with the specifics of this thread, is up to them. But I have definitely found it enlightening from the growth as a person point of view.

Jenn, your posts have been a lot of fun in this thread, tell that person to lighten up. We were actually talking about this type of thing (among other things) at the gathering, how some of us enjoy the lighthearted so. As far as I'm concerned, you need something to balance out the unfortunate realities some are dealing with in the health of their pets, which is so important to discuss. It gives us another window into the personalities as well. It's been a great summer with you and your friends!
