well, that was informative. I am forcing myself to listen to Keith Olberman...I can't hear him because he's got his head shoved someplace.

How nasty has the political discourse in Washington gotten? During his speech to Congress tonight, President Obama defended his health care plan, saying that he had never proposed providing coverage to illegal immigrants. “You lie!” shouted Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina, prompting Obama to briefly pause in the delivery of his speech and eye his heckler. No doubt emotions are often heated during these joint sessions with the president and members of Congress, but decorum typically rules—except for tonight, apparently. In an interview with CNN afterwards, Sen. John McCain trashed Wilson’s heckling and urged him to apologize. “Totally disrespectful,” McCain said. So far, no comment from Wilson or his congressional office.

One thing is for sure: Wilson’s outburst didn’t do the GOP any favors tonight, particularly against a backdrop of a speech in which Obama went after his critics to either put up or shut up on health care reform. It completely overshadowed the official Republican response to Obama’s speech. Rep. Charles Boustany, a cardiothoracic surgeon from Louisiana, urged Obama to scrap the current bill and start anew with true bipartisan negotiations. “We agree much needs to be done to lower the cost of health care for all Americans. On that goal, Republicans are ready — and we've been ready — to work with the President for common-sense reforms that our nation can afford,” he said.

By 10:30 p.m., Wilson had apologized.

"This evening I let my emotions get the best of me," Wilson said. "While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility."

    Rep. Wilson displayed abhorrent behavior.

Regardless of what you think of the President's plans, acting like a buffoon during a nationally televised speech is completely inappropriate.

    Did he really SAY that?
    I couldn't believe what I heard!

    Make your Mommy proud, goof-ball!

That remark will probably eliminate his receiving a White House Christmas Card this year!

    No, I won't lighten up.

I won't let my 4 or 8 year old children behave in that manner.

For a supposed adult to act like that in a joint session of congress is beyond the pale.

Rep. Wilson wasn't the only member acting like a buffoon, the Rep. from Tx with a sign around his neck, various reps. waving papers around....

It's Congress, not a damned circus.

If the Republicans continue to behave like children, then they deserve ridicule and scorn, not respect. While the leadership of the House has been less than desireable, it doesn't justify their actions.

About the "illegals won't get HC" comment?

My opinion does not matter-here is the reality.

The Dems do not want to have to be I.D'ed for anything.....What will their stand be when they have to produce a insurance card or ID to gte care?

THAT would be the only way to insure the care goes to legal citizens in the country. (we could do microchips or forearm tattoos, that's still to be seen.)

If HC is pulled from the IAs, does BO take the chance of alienating the "Young Hispanic Voting Bloc" who have family members here illegally and have been given HC for years?

What about the people, knowing that they will be turned away from ERs/Med Centers because the are IA's? They then will only go to be seen when their condition is critical and we will have no choice but to treat them. We'll assume the cost of their care at a higher rate because they waited until they were almost dead?

What are the issues that will come up when the legal sys begins to take on clients whose loved ones died/or became sicker because the were denied/afraid/waited too long to get medical health?

The 10 p.m. "Noticiero" is in a few minutes. This should be interesting.

I didn't know he yelled, 'you lie', I thought it was just lies.

    Oops!
