I'm embarrassed by the petty and mean-spiritied behavior that is being exhibited.

Name calling.

People who can't find anything better to complain about than the president of the United States encouraging kids to get an education.

When I was in school we had to watch the State of the Union Address and discuss it. I don't remember anyone getting excited about that. No parents pulled their kids out of school because they did not like the current president!

I'm willing to bet you that a whole lot of presidents...and presidents' wives have visited schools and not created such angst - even though distracting them from reading, writing and arithmetic!

But putting that aside. It is the name calling...Nazi...Socialist... Communist...It is sickening.

Just as some people feel the need to apologize on behalf of the state in which they live...I feel the need to apologize for the behavior of some of my fellow countrymen.
Ok, now I really don't understand. If there are people whose opinion doesn't matter to you, how can you be embarrassed then? For ex.: if my child behaved badly in public, I couldn't be embarrassed for him, that's impossible and he's obviously not embarrassed or he'd discontinue the behavior. I could only be embarrassed for myself in the presence of others because of my apparent lack of disciplinary skills. If no one was there to observe my child's obnoxious behavior, I couldn't be embarrassed. So when you say that you're embarrassed, who is it exactly that is embarrassing you? You say that you don't like name calling; I don't like it either. You say that you're disgusted by it; so am I. However, I'm not embarrassed because I don't name call. Disgusted, absolutely. Embarrassed, impossible. And to whom are you apologizing?
