Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country! Oh my gosh! Another socialist...

    So..let's recap...

    Jesus Christ - socialist

    John F. Kennedy - socialist

    George W. Bush - socialist

    Barak H. Obama - socialist

Encouraging kids to get an education - socialist

Even Joe Scarborough is making fun of this silliness

It is just so embarrassing! Morons

Whose opinion is it that matters so much that you are embarrassed before them?

I am not only embarrassed before people whose opinion matters "so much" to me. I am also embarrassed before people whose opinion does not matter much to me.

I'm embarrassed by the petty and mean-spiritied behavior that is being exhibited.

    Name calling.

People who can't find anything better to complain about than the president of the United States encouraging kids to get an education.

When I was in school we had to watch the State of the Union Address and discuss it. I don't remember anyone getting excited about that. No parents pulled their kids out of school because they did not like the current president!

I'm willing to bet you that a whole lot of presidents...and presidents' wives have visited schools and not created such angst - even though distracting them from reading, writing and arithmetic!

But putting that aside. It is the name calling...Nazi...Socialist... Communist...It is sickening.

Just as some people feel the need to apologize on behalf of the state in which they live...I feel the need to apologize for the behavior of some of my fellow countrymen.

Ok, now I really don't understand. If there are people whose opinion doesn't matter to you, how can you be embarrassed then? For ex.: if my child behaved badly in public, I couldn't be embarrassed for him, that's impossible and he's obviously not embarrassed or he'd discontinue the behavior. I could only be embarrassed for myself in the presence of others because of my apparent lack of disciplinary skills. If no one was there to observe my child's obnoxious behavior, I couldn't be embarrassed. So when you say that you're embarrassed, who is it exactly that is embarrassing you? You say that you don't like name calling; I don't like it either. You say that you're disgusted by it; so am I. However, I'm not embarrassed because I don't name call. Disgusted, absolutely. Embarrassed, impossible. And to whom are you apologizing?
    Blessings,
    Mary

I am apologizing to anyone who is offended by the name calling.

Editing because I think I understand your question now Medusa!

If I had a son who was ill-behaved I would be embarrassed whether I knew the people who witnessed the ill-behavior or not, whether I respected the opinion of the people or not...of even if there were any others who witnessed it. It is the behavior that embarrasses me.

    Does that help?

Yes, it does help but I guess I should be more succinct. In this case the people who are criticizing Obama's speaking to the classrooms believe that their conduct is none other than just and right. They aren't behaving badly but are merely exercising their right of free speech and are taking responsibility for their children's education. They are doing nothing for which to be embarrassed and you cannot be embarrassed for someone else. In whose eyes are you embarrassed and to whom are you apologizing, please?
    Blessings,
    Mary

Medusa - feel free to twist my words and meaning around all you want. That does seem to be a sport of some people on PetTalk. You know and I know that we disagree on this subject.

You see just and right - I see petty and mean spirited.

I see calling the president of the United States a socialist to be narrow minded and uneducated.

And please, do not tell me what I am allowed to feel and what I am not.

For the last time...I am embarrassed by the conduct of some of my fellow countrymen and I do not need your permission to feel that way.

"Pukestop" thinks you are full of horse dookie.

Oh, right... It was a "typo".

FWIW, politics and it's discussion has been petty and mean spirited since, well, the fall of man I suppose. So please don't be embarrassed simply for your country. Be embarrassed by your species.

There's a difference between asking for people to be "social" and forcing people to do it.

As PS alluded to in his posts.

We are not all perfect, we do what we can, the best as we can while living. The sin is in believing that someone is perfect and never having the huevos to look 'into' the person who tells you they are perfect.

I wonder how the prez would do if he had to confront all the lies and other BS that surrounds him??

Like going to church and being unconcious for 15-20 years?
Like dodging questions about sumbag friends?
Or lying to the public by promising all kinds of good crap then backing down.
(here you can pretty much blame all politicians-but uneasy is the head that wears the crown?)

    ------------------------

What about the FW Chucky Rangel, and the Green Job Czar- both those FAs talk their racist BS - when they feel the heat of people figuring out what sumbags, liars and DBs they are, they fall back on the favorite lines that blame everything on people who are lighter in skin than they are.

A fave talk show host used to say, We are all black on the inside.

Possibly the worst sin that people have committed is to fall under the spell of the false prophet they elected to office.

Vanity, It really sucks when you think that way, then find out that foot of the god you have worshipping at has the same dog crap that everyone before him stepped into.

If you can walk on water or levitate, you don't have that problem.

I guess some people just think if they keep saying socialist...socialist...socialist it will become true.

What is missing from this is any....well socialism.

I don't worship at anybody's feet or anything else.

I just don't get how "get an education" becomes socialism.
