    [QUOTE=slick;
    The other week a very strange thing happened. I was lying on the couch on my side watching TV. His 6pm alarm clock went off and he was crying for dinner. All of a sudden he jumped up on me turned around a few times and laid down on my. That was a first. He's never, ever curled up on me at any time. Then he lay his head down and seemed to enjoy it. He stayed like that for about 20 min, then jumped up, jumped down to the floor and started screaming for dinner again.

    He's happy and his quality of life is extremely good and that's all that matters to me. Thank you for asking.[/QUOTE]

    This just brought tears to my eyes.............what a wonderful little man, our Sir Max. He just loves his Mom!!

    That's fabulous, Max! Well done! .. and happy Labour Day!
    I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
    CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

    Wow, I almost dreaded coming back since it's been awhile and I didn't want any bad news about Max. Instead I get this absolutely wonderful uppydate! I knew you made the right decision, Slick, but Max's actions only confirm your thoughts. {{{hugs}}} to both of you!

    I just thought I would post an uppydate for those who care to read this.

    Max is pooping all over the apartment. Every day there are tootsie rolls in a different part. I was out all day today and when I got home he left me a couple of surprises in the kitchen. The other day they were in the tub and still another day a few turds were in another part of the living room.
    So far he always pees in the box which is good but this pooping has me perplexed. He is getting weaker in his back end so I'm wondering if that is the reason. I dread the day he starts to lose control....

    Also, in the evenings, he goes from window sill to window sill looking out at nothing.....a behaviour which he's never displayed before. My closet doors are mirrored and sometimes he'll sit for hours just staring at himself.....

    He also spends alot of time in the kitchen. Now, for the whole 12 years I've had him, I trained him to stay out of the kitchen because it's so small but for some reason he refuses to stay out of it now. I clap my hands and yell "No" but it doesn't make any difference.

    I'm wondering if he's losing his hearing or perhaps he's going a little scrambled in the head.

    He doesn't eat at much as he did a month ago. I think I need to tap into his savings account and take him to the vet for a checkup. I know that Dr. Singh will bring up the kidney failure and the fact that Max is dehydrated but I tried the sub-q route and that didn't work out well at all.

    I do believe that this is his last Christmas with me. My tree is up and he does spend alot of time during the day napping underneath it. Lord only knows what the next few months will bring but one thing for sure, Max will be comfortable.
    Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
