    I totally understand your decision and would have made the same one if it had been an option for me with Taz. It's really not worth the stress it causes to Max. As long as he is comfortable for the time being then all is well.

    I hope so much that Max keeps up in good shape for some time to come- what you write about him eating sounds very good.

    With age, they can start to lose weight. My oldest cat (he's somewhere around 12) is starting to lose a little weight. He's still active, spry, and eats and drinks well. I can live with a little weight loss, or even a large weight loss, as long as his quality of life is good.
