Looking at the difficulty he had getting treatments approved, I think we are all doomed without insurance reform.

From this patient's perspective, the current reform effort must do five things:

(1)-- Emphasize prevention, early detection and early intervention.

(2)-- Maximize online efficiencies to reduce paperwork and streamline data.

(3)-- Protect the patient-doctor relationship.

(4)-- Address the insurance/quality-of-care gap.

(5)-- Increase funding for medical research.

I believe only #2 is addressed in the current HCR bill.

The emphasis is on NUMBER 1 - early prevention and screening!


Half of us could give a flying shiat about inflating tires, changing motor oil, changing the batteries on a fire/CM detectors.......

So what makes anyone think about taking a mammogram, blood, pap, prostate or ? test.

LOL, the ONLY way to make it work is to make HC screening MANDATORY.

A few thousands dollars of tests could prevent HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars in treatment and surgeries....But, it will not happen until everyone is screened thoroughly.
