I remember reading something after they stopped the commercials about it being forced by animal rights groups. It seems people were buying Chihuahuas because of the talking Taco Bell ads. The rescue places were over run with Chihuahuas people abandoned. There were those that actually thought they could talk and when they found out they couldn't they abandoned them.
