If you compare Sotomayor's “performance” to the last two, Alito and Roberts – she is doing as well as they did -- a bland performance from all three. It is a grueling process that I could not tolerate. I give anyone who can get through it without lunging over the table and shaking the stuffing out of a few senators a great deal of credit.

I hate the grandstanding of both parties in the process and my admiration for her has grown as she has graciously and judiciously withstood the assault. I liked the spunk that Ginsberg showed in her responses and would like to see more of that in Sotomayor. But then Ginsberg did not have to be wary of the shibboleth of “fiery Latina”.

I secretly think those old white men on the panel would have their
boxers in a knot over any "wise women "who dared think they were the
equal (if not better) than them. Then you add "Latina" to the mix
and they sputter in rage at the thought.

I want HCR, If it takes a few years and is done well, I have no problems with that. MY concern is you spending money on BS reform, just to shut the detractors up. Reform starts small, otherwise you have to reform the reform later on.

Assault on Sotomayor? The softballs they are lobbing at her hardly classify as an assault. Has she actually answered any of the questions, or has she talked her way around all of them? All I saw was alot of rambling non answers.

She doesnt understand the difference between self defence and vigilantism, her rulings on the Second Amendment show she doesnt have a clue what a Federal Right is. She made a sexist, racist comment a few years ago that she stands by today. A discrimination case she ruled on is heading the the SCOTUS, the rambling and stammering about that would drive anybody nuts. She couldnt or wouldnt answer questions about abortion.

I guess I shouldnt be suprised some people would be easily impressed.

What the heck is Franken doing on the pannel anyway? Why are they even having a confirmation hearing for that matter, are they just going through the motions?


ETA: SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas got raked over the coals by the media, the same media that is dismissing and ignoring anything negative about Mrs Sotomayor. Is it OK to question the character of a Black Justice but not OK to question the charcter of a Hispanic Justice? Is it possible the media is pandering to the POTUS and hispandering to a racial group for ratings?
