Ill stick with my not so free kitteh.
I got charlie from a shelter... paid his fee (90, i think) and he had 2 surgeries the first year i had him! Scooter and Jingle were found kitties, and by far much less expensive than charlie ever will be... so I think it depends on the kitty, really.
I will miss you forever, my sweet Scooter Bug. You were my best friend. 9/21/1995 - 1/23/2010
Goodbye, Oreo. Gone too soon. 4/2003 - 9/12/2011.
Farewell & Godspeed, sweet Jadie Francine. You took a piece of my heart with you. 11/2002 - 8/8/2016
Charlie kitty, aka: Mr. Meowy. Our home is far too silent now. 2003-6/14/2018
We have gone both ways and FREE or found is always more expensive.
GILL & Crew;
We found that out, too. There was a cat living around a rehab center, beautiful boy, but he needed care. I went over with a carrier and some of the volunteers there helped me catch him (it took all afternoon in the middle of summer). I took him to the vet, got him his shots, made sure he was neutered and took him home. He was with us a few weeks and never made the transition to house cat. One day he escaped and I couldn't find him; he had done it before, but I always got him back, tempting him with food.
The next day I found him in our alley. Someone had run over him.I was devastated. maybe I should have left him where he was, he might have stayed alive longer............

Remus: Shelter kitty (I went just to look I swear) the pound reimbursed me my $50 fee because I had him nutered (only cost $40 with his shots at the humane society) so I came out ahead!
