I think that you are right about the need being ours and not theirs. I have been snuggling with him on the couch and usually fall asleep for awhile then I get up and leave him downstairs and go to bed. I think I just feel bad because he's downstairs all day while I'm at work and I always looked at bedtime as bonding time. Boy Clyde sure has my number huh?!

We have this ritual every night when she comes in to jump on the bed and be petted and hear sweet words from me. Then she settles right down on the bed. She does get up sometimes at night; but when morning comes she is usually back on the bed or else on the climber overlooking the bedroom window where she can see the early birds.
I loved reading: Cat Stories by James Herriot who wrote the All Creatures Great and Small series.
