A kiss and holding hands, IIRC is a sign of respect and friendship in arab cultures. Kissing the ring is a sign of subjegation or that you are beneath that person, not a very good impression for the POTUS to give to arabic cultures.

Just curious, does anyone know if President Obama bowed to Queen Elizabeth or any other heads of state?

They reported on the news today that the Bank of Wells Fargo is making a 3 billion profit this year. They should have them give all the failing banks classes on bank managing. Of just give them the banks to manage.![]()
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!

To the Queen, he might have.
Source. For while he proferred the Queen a deferential nod in his audience at Buckingham Palace
A nod and a bow aren't the same. That's why I asked. When I was growing up, believe it or not, boys were taught to bow to their elders but it wasn't from the waist, it was more a deferential nod as the article stated. A more earnest gesture would have been sort of a shoulder tip. So if President Obama bowed from the waist to Queen Elizabeth or any other head of state then that would change the import of the incident in my eyes.
Blessings,
Mary
